FooDecoded ("we", "our", or "the app") is designed with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Health profile data — The health conditions, allergies, and dietary preferences you enter are stored only on your device using iOS UserDefaults. This information never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers.
Ingredient text — When you request an analysis, the ingredient text you provide (via camera, photo library, or manual entry) is sent to our AI analysis service along with general health tags (e.g. "Prediabetic", "Lactose Intolerant") derived from your profile. This data is transmitted over HTTPS and is not linked to any personal identifier.
Scan history — Past analyses are stored locally on your device. They are never synced to any server.
Camera and photo library — When you choose to scan a label, the app accesses your camera or photo library solely to extract text. Images are processed on-device using Apple's Vision framework and are never uploaded to our servers.
Rate limiting — To prevent abuse, we temporarily record your IP address in our rate-limiting system. This data expires automatically after one hour and is not used for any other purpose.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use your data for marketing or targeted advertising.
FooDecoded uses the following third-party services to function:
